Hello FABULOUS

Randomly searching for a knitting pattern for a scarf I'm making as a christmas present, I came across THIS, this being Irina Shabayeva's fall 2010 collection. She was the winner of Project Runway season six (they've stopped showing Project Runway on Norwegian television, so I wouldn't know...), supposedly, and OH my WORD are her designs fabulous! The jackets, the prints, the proportions - it's all so splendid! I'm a total sucker for tall collars and heavy layering on the upper body. I'm getting a bit carried away here, but that is due to the total lack of interesting collections lately, from my point of view. I can't exactly place why, but none of the recent output from the fashion world has inspired me especially. However, THIS does!

My favourite is the light blue jacket with the enormous scarf. I don't love scarves, I
luuuuuve them... Supposedly, the pattern can be found in the fall 2010 of Vogue knitting - I'd adore to make it, only the amount of yarn required would be positively ruin me.

KITTEN :D

So, I haven't posted in a gazillion weeks - who cares?
Now I actually have something to post about, though;

About a year ago, when I found out that the boy and I were soon to move to a much larger apartment, I set my heart on getting a kitten. I have wanted a cat my whole life, but due to my mother's less than friendly disposition towards them, I have never been allowed one. But I managed to convince the boy, and started scanning the "kittens" section of finn.no on a daily basis. On several occasions we almost got one, only to be told on the day we were to pick it up that it had been given away to someone else (apparently, there is an insatiable demand for kittens in Trondheim...). But a couple of weeks ago, it finally happened. I called a man who had just posted that he had 5 kittens to give away, and after a short conversation, he put a kitten "on hold" for us.

On friday, we were to come and get it, but, as the owner lived 2 hours north of Trondheim, we needed a car. To make matters worse, it had been snowing for two days, and the car we had arranged to borrow did not have winter tires yet... In the end, we actually rented a car (we had been waiting for almost a year, such trivial problems were not allowed to get in the way!). Our kitten (male) has 3 sisters and 1 brother, who were all adorable, climbing curtains and chasing each other around :D I had expected two constant hours of meowing on the car-ride back, but even though he had to be locked in a cage, our kitten behaved perfectly.

He also adapted extremely well once we got home, only occasionaly hiding under the sofa when scared by sudden movements or noises. After one weekend he now eats, sleeps and does his business (in the right place) all by himself, and has been alone for a couple of hours without any trouble. Not bad for 7,5 weeks!

He is teensy tiny, all black and soft as velvet with tiny little paws :D We haven't given him an "official" name yet, as we mainly call him pus, but I expect we will find a name once we really get to know his personality :)

Heavy cargo

This pic is from Style by Kling - love the Acne cargo pants! Possibly a DIY, if I wake up one day feeling extremely motivated to spend several hours with my sewing machine...

SHIN - can't get enough layering

It's official: I've become a layering addict. Queen Michelle of Kingdom of Style posted about this superbly splendid label - Shin - today, and I actually jumped up and down in my chair while browsing their web shop. So forgive me if this post seems rather similar to yesterday's - I just couldn't help myself, the clothes are so achingly perfect. Pictures like these make me think I'll never wear colour again - it just seems unnecessary when black and white can look this beautiful.
